Shopify Plus engineering

Enterprise Shopify delivery for teams where platform decisions carry operational cost.

We architect and implement Functions, B2B, Markets, checkout extensibility, integrations and replatforming with explicit ownership, staging and release control.

Shugert is a Shopify Select Partner with a delivery record dating to 2015. Plus diagnostics start at $2,500 USD, fixed-scope builds commonly range from $15,000 to $75,000 USD, and ongoing Plus Engineering starts at $9,000 USD per month. The final scope depends on capabilities, data, integrations, markets, internal review and release risk.

  • Shopify Partner since 2015
  • 750+ engagements recorded
  • 35 markets served
  • Senior engineering ownership

When this fits

The implementation is now part of the operating model.

Plus engineering is most valuable when changes touch revenue, fulfillment, finance, B2B or multiple internal teams.

  1. 01

    The storefront has enterprise dependencies

ERP, PIM, WMS, 3PL, tax, payments or customer systems must move with the commerce layer.

  2. 02

B2B is more than a second catalog

Companies, price lists, roles, terms and order workflows need a coherent ownership model.

  3. 03

Legacy checkout or scripts must move

Deprecated customizations need supported Functions, extensions and a controlled migration path.

  4. 04

The internal team needs release authority

Product, ecommerce and engineering need clear approval, rollback and incident responsibilities.

Enterprise position

Plus provides supported capabilities. Engineering turns them into an operable system.

We avoid rebuilding every legacy behavior by default. The scope preserves what creates value and removes what only preserves complexity.

01

Capability architecture

Map each requirement to a supported Shopify surface and the team that owns it.

02

Release governance

Define acceptance, authority, rollback and incident paths before launch.

03

Operational continuity

Treat data, integrations, monitoring and handoff as part of the build.

What you receive

A Plus engagement that business and engineering can both review.

Delivery record · not a forecast

Experience indicators connected to public work and internal delivery records.

Shugert records more than 750 Shopify engagements, 150 full builds and 30 complex migrations across 35 markets. These figures establish delivery breadth; they do not predict the outcome or complexity of a new Plus program.

  • Named work is available in the public portfolio
  • Counts combine projects of different sizes and types
  • Architecture and release evidence are delivered per engagement
  • Client code, data and third-party relationships remain client-owned

Limitation: A new scope depends on catalog, integrations, data quality, review cycles, markets and the current architecture.

We handle

  • Supported capability architecture
  • Theme, Functions and extensions
  • Integration interfaces and failure handling
  • Staging, QA, release and documentation

We coordinate

  • ERP, PIM, WMS and 3PL vendors
  • Internal product and operations teams

  • Guaranteed revenue from one capability
  • Zero migration or release risk

FAQ

Questions before hiring a Shopify Plus engineering partner.

How much does a Shopify Plus engagement cost?+

Most Plus projects fall between $15K and $75K USD. Diagnostics start at $2,500. Shopify Plus engineering retainers start at $9,000/month for ongoing senior support across Functions, B2B, Markets, integrations, complex releases and architecture. Scope, assumptions and validation criteria are written before work starts.

How long does a typical build take?+

Focused performance and conversion projects often run 2–4 weeks. Full Plus rebuilds with theme, B2B and checkout extensibility commonly run 8–14 weeks, depending on integrations, data migration, review cycles and release risk. The milestone plan is part of the initial scope.

Do you support Shopify Functions, B2B and checkout extensibility?+

Yes. We scope and deliver Functions for discount, shipping and payment logic; B2B catalogs, price lists and terms; and checkout extensions for UI, validation and data collection. The exact approach depends on the store's current architecture and Shopify's supported extension points.

Can you migrate us from Magento, BigCommerce or WooCommerce to Plus?+

Yes. We map catalog and customer data, redirects, analytics, payments, integrations and launch validation before theme cutover. The migration framework is documented in our Shopify Plus migration resources.

Do you work alongside an internal team?+

Yes. Some clients hand us roadmap and delivery; others use Shugert as the specialist Plus engineering layer alongside internal product, ecommerce and development teams. Ownership and release authority are defined before implementation.

What happens after launch?+

A project can close with documentation and handoff, or continue through a Growth or Plus Engineering retainer. The client keeps the codebase, data and direct relationships with third-party platforms.
