Shopify Plus pricing in 2026: platform fees, real cost and TCO

The platform fee is the easy number. The useful number is total cost of ownership: subscription, payment structure, apps, development, integrations, migration and the operational work required to use Plus well.

The official Shopify Plus price in 2026

Shopify currently lists Plus from $2,300 USD per month on a three-year term or $2,500 USD per month on a one-year term, billed monthly. Shopify also states that more complex, higher-volume businesses can move to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model. The current source is Shopify's own Plus pricing page.

That means there is no responsible universal formula for the variable tier that an agency should present as if it were Shopify's current public rate. If your business is likely to fall into a custom structure, the platform quote has to come from Shopify Sales.

The important SEO boundary on this page is equally simple: this is the cost of Shopify Plus the platform. Shugert's agency and engineering engagement ranges live on our pricing page.

Plus vs Advanced: the subscription delta

Shopify's U.S. pricing page currently lists Advanced at $399/month when paid monthly or $299/month when billed annually. Compare like with like before calculating the premium: Plus is a contract product, while Advanced can be purchased on standard plan terms.

Using the monthly Advanced price as a simple reference, the flat subscription difference is about $1,901/month versus a three-year Plus term and $2,101/month versus a one-year Plus term. That is only the platform-fee delta; it does not tell you whether Plus is more or less expensive overall.

A store can spend more on Plus and still lower total operating cost if it removes expensive workarounds, consolidates stores, reduces third-party transaction fees, or replaces app/custom infrastructure. The reverse is also true: paying for Plus without a concrete platform constraint simply increases fixed cost.

Payment processing and third-party transaction fees

Shopify's current Plus pricing page says that merchants using a third-party payment processor as their primary gateway pay their processor's fees plus 0.20% per transaction to Shopify. When Shopify Payments is used, Shopify says third-party transaction fees are not charged.

This is one of the few places where volume can make a seemingly small percentage commercially meaningful. Model your actual payment mix rather than multiplying total GMV by a generic fee. Geography, Shopify Payments availability and processor structure all matter.

Do not mix payment-processing fees with the platform subscription when comparing proposals. Keep the model in separate rows: platform, card processing, third-party transaction fees and any gateway-specific fees.

Expansion stores change the multi-store math

Shopify currently includes a main store plus nine additional expansion stores in the Plus platform fee for a single brand. Shopify's Plus pricing page also says additional stores beyond those included can be added for $300 USD per store per month or a monthly fee across stores, depending on the arrangement.

That does not automatically make Plus cheaper than multiple Advanced stores. The value comes from the operating model: organization-level administration, localized stores, permissions and the ability to manage a larger commerce footprint under Plus capabilities.

If the company operates multiple brands, Shopify explicitly notes that separate Plus contracts may be required. Do not use the expansion-store allowance as a shortcut for a multi-brand architecture without confirming the contract structure.

Separate platform from implementation

Model the Shopify Plus cost you can actually influence

Shopify owns the platform quote. We can scope the migration, integrations, storefront, checkout, B2B and ongoing engineering required around it.

Review Plus engineering

Shopify does not charge a migration fee; implementation still costs money

Shopify states that it does not charge a migration fee to move to Plus. That does not mean a migration is free. Data migration, theme work, redirects, app replacement, integrations, checkout changes, analytics, QA and launch operations can still require substantial implementation work.

A useful budget separates one-time implementation from recurring platform TCO. Mixing them makes year-one Plus look artificially expensive and hides the recurring cost profile after launch.

For replatforming, model at least: catalog/customer/order data, theme or headless work, app replacement, integrations, SEO migration, analytics, QA, launch and post-launch stabilization. Our Shopify migration resources cover those risks separately.

A practical Shopify Plus TCO model

Use a 12- or 36-month model, not just the subscription sticker price. A simple structure is:

  • Platform: Plus contract fee or Shopify-provided variable quote.
  • Payments: Shopify Payments/card costs and any third-party gateway transaction fees.
  • Apps: recurring apps that remain necessary after the upgrade.
  • Engineering: recurring development, maintenance and release capacity.
  • Systems: ERP, PIM, WMS, OMS, 3PL or middleware costs attributable to the commerce architecture.
  • One-time implementation: migration, rebuild, integrations, SEO, analytics and launch.

Then compare that total against the current platform plus the cost of existing workarounds. The savings side of the model must be just as explicit as the cost side.

What usually makes the real cost rise

The largest cost increases are rarely caused by the base subscription. They come from complexity: multiple markets, multiple storefronts, custom B2B rules, checkout requirements, legacy integrations, fragmented customer data, large app stacks and migrations where the current platform has years of undocumented behavior.

The cost can also rise when teams treat Plus as permission to customize everything. Native Shopify capability is usually cheaper to operate than custom code. The architecture decision should be: use native first, extend where the business requirement justifies ownership and maintenance.

If you are evaluating Plus mainly because a single feature looks attractive, compare the cost of solving that one constraint without upgrading. The broader Shopify Plus vs Shopify guide owns that upgrade decision.

What to have ready before asking for a Plus budget

A useful Plus cost discussion needs more than annual revenue. Bring store count, markets, payment processors, current app spend, integration map, B2B requirements, checkout constraints, upcoming migrations and the internal team that will own the platform after launch.

With those inputs you can distinguish three different questions: what Shopify will charge, what implementation will cost, and what the operating model will cost after launch. Those are different owners and should stay different in the budget.

If you want an implementation view, our Shopify Plus agency page covers the engineering side. If you only need the platform number, Shopify Sales is the authoritative source for your contract.

Frequently asked

How much is Shopify Plus per month in 2026?

Shopify currently lists Plus from $2,300 USD/month on a three-year term or $2,500 USD/month on a one-year term, billed monthly. More complex, higher-volume businesses can receive a variable platform fee.

Is Shopify Plus $2,300 or $2,500 per month?

$2,300 is the current starting price for a three-year term. $2,500 is the current starting price for a one-year term. Contract details and variable pricing can change the final amount.

Does Shopify charge to migrate to Plus?

Shopify says it does not charge a migration fee. Merchants can still incur implementation costs for data, themes, apps, integrations, SEO, analytics, QA and launch.

Are there transaction fees on Shopify Plus?

Shopify currently states that using a third-party processor as the primary gateway adds a 0.20% transaction fee to Shopify, in addition to the processor's fees. Shopify says third-party transaction fees are not charged when using Shopify Payments.

How many expansion stores are included with Shopify Plus?

Shopify currently states that the main store plus nine additional expansion stores are included for a single brand. Contract rules apply, and additional stores can carry additional fees.

Is Shopify Plus worth the cost?

That is a different decision from the pricing question. Plus is easier to justify when specific platform constraints, multi-store operations, B2B requirements, payments or custom capabilities create measurable value. Use the Plus-vs-Shopify decision guide for that analysis.
